Clovemead is a medium sized company that has traded with some of the UK’s major blue chip companies for all of its 37 years. Its signs and fuel-systems divisions moved to Widnes from Warrington in December last year, necessitated by having won a new contract with BP to re-image their UK petrol stations and its existing warehouse already working to capacity.
The new Widnes facility services contracts with Volkswagen, Audi, Shell, Esso and BP. The fuel-systems division also services its contract commitments with BT and many of the UK’s major oil companies. Clovemead was referred to the Local Growth Hub by another business and the Growth Hub provided a full explanation of what help a business like Clovemead could access.
Clovemead needed to recruit several new employees and staff to help with their expansion plans. The team at the Halton People service helped to identify individuals that were available in the sector who had the skill set and experience that was needed. The subsequent recruitment of local people to these roles proved to be very successful. In normal circumstances, new recruits to the firm have had a fallout rate of approximately 20%, but, with the help of Halton People, Clovemead has retained 100%.
As a result of working through the Local Growth Hub and Halton People in to Jobs, the move from Warrington to Widnes was successfully accomplished at a time of major expansion, without the need to re-visit the search for additional suitable people and the duplication of training costs.
