Advice adds up for Quality Bookkeeping
Local business Quality Bookkeeping has seen new doors open for them after receiving support from St Helens Chamber’s Business Growth Programme. The company received specialist marketing support through the Business Growth Programme, which provides companies with practical support to remove any barriers to growth they may encounter.
For Quality Bookkeeping, marketing the business was always something that was kept on the back burner whilst running a busy accountancy firm. Managing Director Jill Slobom explains: “We’ve not had the time to stop and look at the things which, at the back of our minds we knew we needed to do, like marketing the business, but the Chamber helped us to refocus.
“We worked with our adviser Phil and he gave us a lot of practical help. He took the business apart and went through it step by step, to see where we could improve. Since then we’ve been able to advertise in a more focused way. We have taken on the knowledge the Chamber has given us and now we have the confidence to push ourselves forward by going to networking events. We attended St Helens Business Fair at Haydock Park put on by the Chamber, which gave us the chance to meet with other businesses and promote ourselves.”
Jill found having a dedicated point of contact at the Chamber helped make the Business Growth Programme more accessible. She said: “Helen made everything really easy for us to follow. “We are so busy with the business and that we thought getting involved another project could be daunting or feel unnecessary but Helen made it easy. She has been our first point of contact and it has stayed that way, which has made the Chamber more accessible to us.”
In addition to marketing support accessed through the Business Growth programme, Quality Bookkeeping also credit their Chamber Membership with giving them access to a host of benefits. Emily Johnson, Practice Manager at Quality Bookkeeping, said: “When we got our Chamber Membership it was like opening a gift box. The Chamber provide so many benefits such as legal assistance and an HR service. When I saw what Membership offered I thought ‘Okay, we can relax now’.”
Quality Bookkeeping provides accountancy services for sole traders, small businesses and limited companies. Jill explained that they offer a flexible and modern accountancy service, and with a better grasp of marketing, can let people know what makes their business different. She said: “We are not the average accountancy firm and that’s one of the things we pride ourselves on. If we can make things simpler for other people then that’s what we are there for.”
The Business Growth Programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
