Global Liverpool a hit in India

A record number of leading digital firms from Liverpool have headed to Delhi for the India-UK Future Tech festival.

The City Region delegation, led by Asif Hamid, MBE, the Chair of Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Combined Authority Portfolio Holder for Business & Brexit, is exploring business opportunities with Indian firms and investors as well as attending the UK Government Department for International Trade (DIT) facilitated conference.

LEP Chair Asif Hamid, MBE said: “This trade visit is a hugely positive reflection of how the City Region is reasserting itself on the international stage, building on our competitive strengths and key growth sectors.

“This trip has already highlighted the huge future opportunity for our City Region in India and for Asian businesses in and around the Liverpool City Region.

“The calibre of the tech sector executives making up the delegation – including Agent Marketing, Damibu, Red Ninja,Th_nk Live (part of EPAM), vTime, – and the reception they have received from Indian investors, bodes incredibly well in terms of future relations and deal-making.

We have also had exceptional support from the very outset, from Manchester Airport, Jet Airways and Park Hotels Ltd., as well as DIT itself, and provides an excellent platform to build on for future trips as there is no doubt we will be back.”

Colin Sinclair, CEO of Knowledge Quarter Liverpool (KQ Liverpool), speaking on behalf of the city’s Universities and Hospitals said: “It’s great to be here with so many fast growing home grown tech firms. Liverpool’s reputation for innovation in digital health, the internet of things, medtech and the creative industries, as well as in AI, AR and VR, is becoming truly global.”

The FutureTech Festival kicks off at the historic British High Commission on Tuesday with a high profile etch awards event and reception, followed by a full day of meetings, presentations and roundtables on Wednesday involving senior business, trade and government representatives from throughout the UK and India.
