PSD Vehicle Rentals increase social media presence with help from St Helens Chamber
PSD Vehicle Rental is taking a new approach to marketing their business after receiving specialist advice through St Helens Chamber.
The company is a family owned and managed business, established in 1978 and provides a range of car and van rental, car and van sales ,MOTs and body repair services.
To market the business the company realised that they needed to upgrade their website and establish a presence on social media.
Director, Clint Harrison said: “We were building a new website so we contacted the Chamber and spoke to Business Adviser, John Woods who said there was funding available for specialist consultancy services.
“We went out to tender with various website companies and whittled it down to a proposal of four companies and decided on a company in Prescot.”
PSD Vehicle Rentals were put in contact with specialist website developers through the Chamber’s Access to Specialist Services programme, which provides a 35% contribution towards specialist consultancy costs.
Clint said: “It’s early days at the moment to find out whether the new website has been successful in bringing us new business. But it has certainly upgraded the website and given us a much improved presence online.”
As well as developing their website with help from a specialist consultant, PSD Vehicle Rental are getting to grips with the world of digital marketing and social media.
Clint said: “We are now being more proactive with social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, which we have not really touched upon in the past.
“Since we have been through the Access to Specialist Services programme, we have created a vacancy, with a view to that member of staff managing the in house Facebook and Twitter accounts.”
Clint feels that the Access to Specialist Services programme has been worthwhile for the business.
He said: “St Helens Chamber’s Access to Specialist services programme is definitely worth recommending.
“The Chamber are very good with advice and although we don’t use them every day or every week, when you do need them, they are always there to give you support.”
Access to Specialist Services grant funding is available to St Helens-based SMEs, operating in a business-to-business capacity. The project is part of the New Markets 2 Programme, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
